Frequently asked questions

The cycle paths are separate and entirely protected from traffic, and are a great way to get around Tāmaki Makaurau. We hope these rides will inspire more of our community to consider riding to work, school or play, to make Auckland a healthier, happier city. The paths are suitable for all levels of riding and with connections into schools, cafes, town centres and more, they are perfect for local trips and getting out and exploring.

These rides are for those aged over 18 years old, and are perfect for riders who can, at a minimum, ride a push-bike for 2 or 3 km on a bike only path.

All sessions are completely free to attend, this includes any equipment you may need to use during the session

We provide bikes and helmets for riders. However if you have your own bike and want to get it safety checked and learn bit more about it, or ask some specific questions please feel free to bring it instead.

Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are a must. Otherwise, dress appropriately for the weather - a light jacket and sunblock are always recommended.

We recommend bringing a drink bottle, some snacks and a bag to carry them in. Otherwise, just bring yourself and a learning attitude.

Our courses are for people aged 18+. If you have a teenager who is already riding a bike and who would like to upskill, please get in touch by emailing us on CyclingEvents@at.govt.nz to see how we can help.
